DDS works with children to provide family support and supplement educational services through specialized programs. You can customize your map display to show just the information you want to see at the best scale for your chosen purpose. IMap is your window to a wealth of geographic information from throughout King County on such topics as real property, natural resources, political boundaries, planning, and much more. With restrictions about COVID-19 rapidly changing, please check with individual departments to be sure a building is open before you seek in-person service.

Unlicensed staff who are non-MAP Certified are now authorized to possess and administer prepackaged medications to individuals in DDS homes. When you pick up your child from school you will need to show their name tag and “announce pick up.” From there, we will safely deliver the student to your vehicle. This new digital process increases the safety of student release. In addition, it helps parents stay informed on all dismissal activities. The program is geared towards applied research that advances design related knowledge in a broad range of scales from product design to buildings and landscapes to urban design and regional planning. Common to the diverse range of DDes research investigations is the belief that design research makes essential contributions to understanding, analyzing and ultimately improving the built environment in our increasingly complex world. The Downtown Denver Expeditionary School is an EL Education K-5 DPS public charter school. DDES seeks to richly implement the core principles, practices, and curriculum of El Education to offer a diverse, caring and collaborative learning environment while utilizing the city as our campus.
We will employ the rich resources of our Denver urban community to enable all students to achieve academic and personal excellence to become responsible citizens. EL Education’s approach to curriculum makes subjects come alive for students by connecting learning to real-world issues and needs. The EL model provides academically rigorous learning expeditions, case studies, projects, fieldwork, and service learning projects to children of all backgrounds and ability levels. It inspires students to think and work as professionals do, contributing high-quality work that would be appreciated beyond the classroom. Students explore subjects through working on in-depth meaningful projects inside and outside the classroom.

We are one of the few racially integrated elementary schools in Denver Public Schools. 60% live within a 3 mile radius and we accept students from 44 Denver metro zip codes, making Downtown Denver Expeditionary the most geographically diverse elementary school in Denver Public. Valuing diversity is an organizational priority and a core belief shared in our school. DDES is proud to have recently been accepted and now accountable to the national Diverse Charter Schools Coalition, a group dedicated to helping create diverse public charter schools through research, advocacy, and outreach. The Downtown Denver Expeditionary School follows the Expeditionary Learning model to offer a diverse, caring, and collaborative learning environment.

DDS works with adults to connect them with an array of employment and day program supports, community living and other residential aid, and family support. Many King County services are continually adapting because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses can sell their goods and services to government agencies and higher education institutions by registering with the Washington’s Electronic Business Solution . Research topics are proposed during admission and are decided upon entry into the program. Student research should align with current faculty research interests, allowing for affiliations with faculty and, possibly, the research labs. Applicants are expected to clearly articulate their research topics in the application by submitting a concise and well-structured research proposal. Thesis topics investigate more specific issues within individual or combined research areas, and do not necessarily correspond to individual academic disciplines. Instead, they are often interdisciplinary in nature, involving faculty and resources from other graduate schools at Harvard and contribute to expanding the intellectual range of design research. Alongside our work in academics and aligned with our social emotional learning, we believe that preparing scholars for the world beyond also means experiencing the diversity of the world we live in today.
The Department of Developmental Services provides supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder to enhance opportunities to become fully engaged members of their community. The Washington National Guard used DES' contracting and project management services to get a 39,000-square-foot readiness center constructed for national guardsmen training. The Osceola School Board is committed to the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors. The Osceola School District has detailed comprehensive safety and emergency plans for every site, and all schools regularly conduct various drills, such as fire drills, severe weather drills, and intruder drills, to prepare students for an emergency. Dillard Drive Magnet Elementary School is the only school in Wake County to offer students a specialized combination of World Languages, Global Studies and Spanish Immersion program.
These projects are carefully planned “learning expeditions” encompassing the Colorado State Academic Standards and the Common Core Standards for each grade level. DDes research is often multidisciplinary and encompasses a broad range and combination of theoretical, applied and technological topics that represent the cutting edge of applied design investigation. DDes research is intimately linked to ongoing investigations of the GSD’s research labs and programs that integrate many DDes students both intellectually and operationally as investigators in ongoing research projects.
